Energy Conservation and Disclosure (ECAD) Audit
As of June 1, 2009, Austin homeowners are required to have an energy audit completed before selling their home. The City of Austin passed Ordinance No. 20081106-047 adding Chapters 6-7 to the City Code. The code applies to all residential properties that are within the city limits, are 10 years or older, and receive services from Austin Energy. If you have a house that is on the market for sale, you are now required to have an energy conservation and disclosure (ECAD) audit completed by a certified auditor prior to the sale of the property.
Green Collar Operations will conduct the mandatory ECAD audit before you sell your home. We offer this service at a flat rate; please contact us with the specific details of your property for pricing and scheduling.
Certain single-family homes that meet the following conditions are exempt from the audit requirement. You are exempt if your home:
- Is less than 10 years old at the time of sale
- Has received at least three energy-efficiencimprovements or a total of $500 in rebates through theAustin Energy residential energy efficiency offerings within the last 10 years
- Has received free energy efficiency improvements through Austin Energy residential energy efficiency offerings within the last 10 years
- Is a condominium
- Is manufactured housing (a mobile home) built on a permanent chassis and designed for use without a permanent foundation.
